Iraq's national energy infrastructure has suffered due to the 3 past decades' political turmoil. First steps to mobilise the private sector are made. In the subsector of electricity the Iraqi government adopted last year an Electricity Master Plan for Iraq 2010-2030. However, the needs in the energy sector are still far from being covered. The project involves the preparation of an in-depth analysis and mapping of the Iraq energy sector and the preparation of recommendations/options for an energy action programme for EU-Iraq cooperation covering the period until 2015
